モヤモヤする[moya moya suru]: feel uneasy

It is a verb that means “to feel uneasy”. It is used when describing situations in which your feelings/thoughts are not clear or you can’t understand something. It is also used when you can’t remember something, when you’re worried about something

Meg is worried about what her boyfriend wanted to tell her last night.

  • Amy: How many times are you going to yawn?
    何回あくびをするつもり?
  • Meg: I’m so sleepy. Tom tried to say something to me just after we said goodbye last night, but he didn’t. It kept me up. What if he wants to break up with me? (Sigh) It makes me uneasy.
    眠いの。昨夜別れ際に、トムが何かを言おうとしたの。でも言わなかったから、寝れなかったよ。別れたいのかな?はぁ、モヤモヤする
Ken and Leo are learning Japanese together.

    • Ken: Do you know the difference between “できるだけ” and “なるべく”?
      「できるだけ」と「なるべく」の違い、わかる?
    • Leo: Yes. I’m sure that they mean “as much as possible“ but the nuance is slightly different. Hmm, I don’t exactly know how to explain it.
      うん。両方とも“as much as possible“って意味だけど、ニュアンスが違うんだよね。んー、どう説明すればいいか、わからないや。
    • Ken: They’re similar. I can't quite grasp the difference.
      似ているよね。モヤモヤするな。

  • Amy: Really? You deserve it.
