どんなに~ても[donnani ~temo]: no matter how

It is a phrase and it means "no matter how". It is used to say that something is always true or something doesn’t change, whatever the situation is.

No matter how long it takes, I’ll make my dream come true.
どんなに時間がかかっても、夢を実現する。
Regardless of how good your product is, if you don't have a good advertising strategy, no one will purchase it.
どんなに商品が良くても、ちゃんとした(or良い)広告戦略がなければ、誰も買わない。
Amy was supposed to see Meg but she can’t make it on time.

  • Amy : I’m sorry. I’m late because my alarm didn't wake me up.
    ごめん。目覚まし(時計)が鳴らなくて、遅れそう。
  • Meg : Okay. When will you get here?
    そっか。何時ごろ着く?
  • Amy : I’m on my way. I’ll be there in thirty minutes at the latest.

Ken and Leo are working overtime.

  • Ken : It’s time for us to go home.
    そろそろ帰らなきゃ。
  • Leo : Uh-huh. You can leave first. You’ll miss the last train if you stay here any longer.

  • Ken : Are you still here? Why don’t you get some rest and finish it tomorrow?
    まだ働いていくの?帰って、明日やれば?
  • Leo : No, I need to submit this proposal by tomorrow morning. It will take me at least two more hours to finish all of this.
    いや、明日の朝までに、この提案書を提出しないと。どんなに早くても、あと2時間はかかる。
  • Ken : Is there anything I can do for you?
    何か手伝おうか?
  • Leo : No. Thank you. No matter how busy I am, I’ll keep going until I get a new contract.
    大丈夫、ありがとう。どんなに忙しくても、新しい契約を取るまでは頑張らなきゃ。
